Boston GLOW aims to foster opportunities for women of all ages to become empowered community leaders and active, engaged world citizens.
Through two specific program areas -Girls’ Leadership (GL) and Organized Women (OW), GLOW strives to provide pragmatic programming, leadership training, and service-learning opportunities.
Our Girls' Leadership initiatives for 2011-2012 include:
The IGNITE Change essay contest 2012. This will be the second year we ask the young women of Boston "what would you do if you could change anything in your community?" Essay writers put forth an actionable plan for change in 500 words or less; contest winners are chosen based on the clarity of ideas and the strength of their individual voice. The winning writers are paired with a published young adult author in the Boston area who will work with them to help develop their writing skills and awarded an educational scholarship for a pursuit of their choosing.
