Boston GLOW aims to foster opportunities for women of all ages to become empowered community leaders and active, engaged world citizens.

HERstory Arts Festival 2012

HERstory 2012

Whether you're a writer, singer, dancer or poet, the way you tell your story to the world is the most important way you express yourself.

Next summer, Boston GLOW will sponsor the first HERstory Arts Festival, an event that celebrates the expression of individual voices, ideas for change in the community and leadership through the arts.  If you use dance, paint, music, the written word or any other art form to make yourself heard, we want to provide a platform and hear YOUR story.

The HERStory festival will be constructed to connect teen girls with women who have used their unique gifts to express their stories in whatever medium they choose.  We want to have published authors, professional singers, impassioned poets and inspirational women who have accomplished their goals presenting their craft to a younger generation.  Ideally this would give young women a chance to not only meet some of their pre-existing role models, but envision themselves using a creative outlet to tell their utterly unique personal narrative to the world.

Girls!: we need your help!  We want to include as many young female leaders as we can in the process of planning and organizing this event.  We want to know what you want to hear and see - how we can make the first HERstory Arts Festival everything it can be, for you.  Whether you would like to take a leadership position in the planning process, or volunteer an hour or a day of your time, there are opportunities at every level to get involved - we welcome any and all to be a part of this day.

We envision HERstory as a day for women of all ages to come together and share their passion for change in the community:

- Representatives from local non-profit organizations and community groups to share information and resources about their respective missions and how you can help.

- Booths for local artists to share their work and the inspiration behind what they do.

- Readings by local young adult authors who have just published new novels.

- Live performances from local musicians and dance troupes.

- A poetry slam
