Local Nonprofit Boston GLOW Hosts Gala to Support Boston-Area Girl Leaders

Boston, MA, Feb 18, 2014 – At 7P.M. on Thursday, February 27, 2014, the Artists for Humanity EpiCenter will be alight with the hallmarks of the perfect party: great food, drink, music, décor, company—and the promise of great things to come for the Boston area. With the help and generosity of local businesses, community partners, and individual donors, Boston GLOW seeks to raise $50,000 at its fourth annual IGNITE the NITE gala to support opportunities for the area’s most motivated young women.

Sleek bar and lounge furniture from Party by Design and floral arrangements courtesy of Cedar Grove Gardens will transform the EpiCenter. Signature dishes from some of Boston's most celebrated restaurants including Tavern Road, Bon Me, El Pelon, Fratelli’s, and Gourmet Caterers will sate guests’ appetites. The bar will serve a signature cocktail featuring Tito's Vodka, as well as wine from A Catered Affair; beer from Sam Adams, Cambridge Brewing Company, and White Birch Brewing; and liquor from Berkshire Mountain Distilleries and Burke’s Distributing. The evening’s silent auction will feature one-of-a-kind pieces of art, five- star hotel stays, an ice climbing excursion, autographed sports memorabilia, a tour of Good Morning America, theatre and concert tickets, wine and beer, jewelry, gift certificates to Boston's best restaurants, and more. Singer/songwriter Jenna Paone will kick off the evening with dance, pop, soul classics, and originals, and DJour Entertainment’s selection of pop and hip hop will keep the dance floor alive all night long.

A Wish Wall will showcase the finalists in Boston GLOW’s 2014 IGNITE Change Leadership Contest. These ten projects—each focusing on practical ways to change the lives of women and girls in our communities—are among hundreds submitted by girls from Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville. The young women behind these proposals will be awarded more than $17,000 in scholarships and prizes; one will win a $1,000 micro-grant to make her plan a reality. Guests will hear about the program’s impact in a cornerstone video featuring IGNITE Change 2013 finalists and four of Boston’s most celebrated women: Franny Andahazy, CEO and Creative Director, PBD Events; Nicole Freedman, Olympic Cyclist, Director of Bicycle Programs, Boston Bikes; Chardline Chanel-Faiteau, Education & Outreach Investigator for Boston's Office of Civil Rights; and Jessica Mah, New Site Development Manager for City Year.

Year after year, IGNITE the NITE’s community of volunteers and supporters—including Yelp— are essential to the experience. Thanks to this community of supporters, ticket sales and silent auction purchases will directly fund programming for young women, promoting empowerment, service, and mentorship, including the 2014 IGNITE Change Leadership Contest. Tickets start at $75 and are available at; they will also be available at the door.
