We are incredibly proud to be a part of Boston's VDAY campaign team. The team has been the city's exclusive sponsor of the Vagina Monologues for the last three years and this year's performances raised more money than ever, in partnership with the Young Black Women’s Society and YWCA Boston . For those of you who don't know, VDAY is a global movement and series of consciousness-raising events to end violence against girls and women through public performances, education, networking, and much more. The Vagina Monologues is the most recognized but just one of the campaign's many cornerstones. Over the past five years over 150 women in Boston have performed and volunteered for this production!
This year alone, a group of 30 performers and 20 volunteers donated over 2000 volunteer hours for the performances and raised more than $4000 over the three sold-out productions with over 250 guests in the audience.
Think about it: every 2 minutes someone is the victim of sexual or physical violence. The Vagina Monologues strives to break the silence this through stories, performance, and entertainment. The movement doesn’t stop there. The inspirational true stories are illuminated by the dynamic performances of women in GLOW’s community. As Boston’s official community production of VDay and The Vagina Monologues we are excited to prepare for next year’s event!
This upcoming year, Boston GLOW is thrilled and honored to again help host the Boston production of the Vagina Monologues.
As always, we welcome your involvement, support and ideas. If you are interested in helping plan or participate in either of these initiatives, please contact Tashia at email@example.com!
